MISAMIS UNIVERSITY CELEBRATES 93RD FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY

Misamis University successfully held its 93 rd Foundation Anniversary and Intramurals last October 13 to 21, 2022, the first major student event after a two-year halt due to the pandemic.
MU bounced back strong. The week-long celebration featured a series of events from various athletic competitions, literary competitions, musical competitions, an athletic parade, Mister & Miss Intramurals, and the Central Student Council and Local Student Council Induction of Officers.
With almost 9,000 students participating the Foundation Anniversary activities, the air in the university was both festive and competitive as the different athletes and representatives of the Misamis University colleges competed against each other. Points were given to the champions and runner-ups for the different competitions during the Foundation Anniversary.
A crowd favorite was the Mister & Miss Intramurals 2022, where pageant queens and kings competed for the crown in a showdown for beauty, poise, and talent. Jeyferson Bersales from CBM was crowned Mister Intramurals and Kyle Leovic Tayco of Medtech was crowned Miss Intramurals.
The College of Business and Management (CBM) bagged the first place in all the events in the Swimming Competition Men's Division, namely the 200m Individual Medley, The 4x50m Medley Relay, the 50m Backstroke, the 50m Breaststroke, the 50m Butterfly, and the 50m freestyle. The College of Nursing, Midwifery and Radiologic Technology (CNMRT) took home the gold for almost all the events in the Swimming Competition Women’s Division, particularly the 200m Individual Medley, The 4x50m Medley Relay, the 50m Backstroke, the 50m Butterfly, and the 50m freestyle. The College of Medical Technology secured the top spot in the 50m Breaststroke Women’s Division.
The College of Business and Management likewise ranked first in the Basketball Competition, after competing with the College of Maritime Education in the final match. The College of Engineering and Technology placed 1 st in the Men’s Chess Competition while the CBM placed 1 st in the Women’s Chess Competition. The College of Criminology topped the Dart Competition in the Men's Division and the College of Business and Management secured the first place in the Women's Division.
The CBM won in the Futsal Competition after another showdown with the College of Maritime Education for the top spot. The College of Dentistry placed gold in the Lawn Tennis Competition Men's Division, while the College of Criminology won 1 st place in the Lawn Tennis Competition Women's Division.
The College of Criminology topped the Sepak Takraw Competition in both the Men’s and Women's Division. The College of Medical Technology placed first in the Men’s Division of the Table Tennis Competition, while the College of Nursing, Midwifery, and Radiologic Technology placed 1 st in the Women's Division.
And to wrap up the winners of the athletic competitions, the College of Business and Management took home the gold medals in the Volleyball Competition for both the Men's and Women's Division.
For the Literary Competition, the College of Arts and Science topped both the Essay Writing Competition and the On-the-spot Painting Competition. The College of Nursing and Midwifery topped the Impersonation Competition with their entry as Manny Pacquiao, while the College of Medical Technology placed first in the Infomercial Competition with their entry "Unseen Heroes".
The College of Education took home the gold in the Speech Choir Competition while the College of Engineering and Technology topped the Spoken Poetry Competition.
The Musical Competition was also one of the most sought-out events of the week-long celebration. The College of Maritime Education secured the top spot in the HipHop Dance Competition, while the College of Business and Management placed first in the Pop Dance Competition, and the Pop Singing Competition.
In the end, the College of Maritime Education had been ranked the 4 th runner up with 150 points, the College of Criminology as the 3 rd runner up with 192 points, closely followed by the College of Medical Technology placed 2 nd runner up scoring 201 points. Scoring 270 points, the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Radiologic Technology had been ranked the 1 st runner up, and the College of Business and Management emerged as the overall champion, with a total number of 481 points. The CBM remains to be the defending champion of the MU Intramurals.
